Build curiosity, create new solutions

The leader as a coach
the power of Curiosity & Collaboration

The leader as a coach knows that the three most dangerous sentences in any business are:

  1. “But we’ve always done it this way.”

  2. “Just do it my way/the way I’m telling you to do it.”

  3. “Your little experiment didn’t work. You failed. But if you just would have listened to me…”

UGH!

Yet, that is the default response coming from so many organizations as they stumble through an ever-changing environment grasping at the only known elements in reach.

It’s a recipe for disaster.

Fixed thinking creates fixed answers that are based only on what has been.

Shifting from a ‘Leader as a Manager’ fixed mindset to a ‘Leader as a Coach'‘ growth mindset can overcome this and foster a new way for individuals to work together and respect each other.

Why corporate training? to create the leader as a coach

Progressive companies know the power of implementing a coaching mindset in their leaders, managers, and teams to create an environment of collaboration.

Fostering a growth mindset, dynamic thinking, opens up the possibilities and potential of new solutions and flexibility. It’s the next level of business management training.

As Steve Jobs famously said, “It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to to , We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.”

That is the essence of collaboration and creation.

Adopting a coaching mindset is instrumental in building collaboration through embracing curiosity.

If you’re a leader or executive reading this and have skepticism, if you’re tied to the idea that you’ve been hired for what you know and it’s your job to direct those under you, I have two questions for you:

  1. With all you do know, what don’t you know?

  2. What do your associates know that you don’t, and are not listening to, because you’re so locked up in what you think is your place of authority?

Yes, at the end of the day, there are still metrics to be met in business. Decisions have to be made.

Wouldn’t you rather make a decision armed with more information, rather than just your opinion?
